Chemistry involves the study of solids, liquids, and gases and the transformations they undergo in combination with each other. Chemists engage in observation, analysis and experimentation. They break natural substances down into their components, replicate in the laboratory chemical processes that occur in the physical world and create substances to fulfill specific needs. Chemical discoveries play an important role in helping us understand the world around us. Biochemistry, the study of chemical compounds and processes that occur in living organisms, has emerged as a field with growing impact on our ability to diagnose and treat diseases in animals, plants and humans.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

With a GPA of 3.77, University of Delaware requires you to be above average in your high school class. You'll need at least a mix of A's and B's, with more A's than B's. You can compensate for a lower GPA with harder classes, like AP or IB classes.
