International Year One in Computing and Engineering
The International Year One in Computing and Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University is designed to help you start your degree with confidence. Through the International College, you will complete your first-year university modules while receiving additional tailored support. You will also take a college module to strengthen your academic and technical skills, ensuring a smooth transition into UK university life.
With expert guidance, smaller class sizes, and access to cutting-edge computing facilities, you will be fully prepared to progress into the second year of your computing degree.
How it works
As an International Year One student, you will apply through the International College. Once accepted, you will start your first year of university just like any other student on your chosen degree. You will attend the same lectures, seminars, and tutorials as your course peers, studying the same subjects. But to make sure you have the best chance of success, you will also get extra academic and language support from the college.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
FOR INDIA
- Successful completion of Standard 12 with the following grades depending on the boards:
- All India Boards, Maharastra, Tamil Nadu & West Bengal with an average of 50%.
- All other boards with an average of 55%.
FOR BANGLADESH
- Higher Secondary Certificate or Intermediate Certificate with an average grades of 3.5/5.0 or 65%.
FOR SRI LANKA
- Completion of the Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education advance level with average grade of an Ordinary Pass including C in course specific subjects where required.
