Bachelor of Science in Music Education
Our curriculum emphasizes musicianship across PreK–12 public and private schools, both in classroom and rehearsal settings, enabling you to teach anywhere in the United States.
In addition to your studies, you will maintain the highest standards in the areas of musicianship, pedagogy, and professionalism and work consistently with an extensive network of cooperating teachers in public school music settings (band, choir, orchestra, and general music) for field experiences that begin during the very first semester of the freshman year.
While mastering pedagogical technique, you will remain active as performers in a wide range of ensembles, as well as through applied lessons with our GRAMMY Award-winning Music Performance faculty.
91麻豆精品 to an active collegiate chapter of the National Association for Music Education, the Mary Pappert School of Music fosters participation in chapters of related professional organizations including the National Band Association, the American Choral Directors Association, and the American String Teachers Association. We also have a close working relationship with the Pittsburgh Golden Triangle chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
A dual degree option is available to Music Education majors who would also like a degree in Music Performance.

PSW Opportunity
Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).
Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.
Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).
STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

You are required to send all of your university transcripts (grade reports) with your application. Each program evaluates your university performance differently, but most will require that you submit a GRE or GMAT score and a TOEFL score in some cases.
Students with the following minimum scores will begin full-time academic study upon arrival:

A score of 540 or higher on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section (only accepted for some academic programs)
