Graduate Certificate in Women's & Gender Studies

Women's & Gender Studies is a vastly growing area of study focused on the way gender shapes social norms and individual experiences, and how those factors affect the larger world.

Courses offered as a part of this certificate and concentration place an emphasis on how gender impacts personal and professional experiences, how certain societal figures (artists, researchers, clinical practitioners, and so on) represent and respond to those experiences, and how studying Women's & Gender Studies can help you reimagine the way the world should respond to gendered experiences.

This inter- and multi-disciplinary certificate or concentration program allows you to diversify your thinking through a dynamic curriculum that can be used to enhance all other academic disciplines. Our teacher-scholars draw upon both well established and developing research in women's studies, feminist theory, and gender studies generated externally as well as their own research to craft relevant and timely courses in related disciplines.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

GPA at 3.5 or higher
GPA for prerequisite courses of 3.5 or higher
GRE at 308 or higher. GRE scores must be from last 5 years.

The University requires the following minimum scores* for general admission consideration:
