Advanced Certificate in Information Systems

The 18-credit Advanced Certificate in Information Systems is designed to satisfy the professional needs of students who wish to acquire graduate-level knowledge in Information Systems (IS), but who do not wish to pursue a full graduate degree.

Prior Information Systems experience or knowledge is not required.
Choose convenient online courses or classes at our Poughkeepsie campus.
You get hands-on computer experience that employers prefer from courses based in the Computer Science and Math Department.
Courses can be applied to the MS Information Systems program.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Application Process for Full-Time International First-Year Students
Please submit the following:

  • A completed first-year application
  • Apply online (choose one):
  • Marist Online Application or 
  • Note: If you are applying Early Decision you must also print and submit the Declaration of Early Decision with all required signatures
  • Common Application
  • Or download and print an application:
  • Marist Application  An image of the pdf logo
  • The Counselor Recommendation and Transcript Request Form  An image of the PDF logo.
  • One additional letter of recommendation
  • One personal essay (details in application)
  • English Proficiency Exam results if you are a non-native English-speaking student. Marist accepts the TOEFL, IELTS, or the Duolingo English Test.
  • Note: The English Proficiency Exam result requirement can be waived for students who have met any of the following criteria:
  • Completed or are pursuing an International Baccalaureate Diploma
  • Attained a minimum score of 500 on the SAT Critical Reading or Writing section
  • Attended a U.S. or international school taught in English for a minimum of four years without any English as a Second Language courses
  • TOEFL - Students must submit a minimum score of 550 on the paper based TOEFL exam or a 213 on the computer based TOEFL or an 80 on the Internet-based TOEFL exam
  • IELTS - Students must submit a minimum score of 6.5
  • Duolingo English Test- Students must submit a minimum score of 115
  • Note: All test scores must come directly from the Testing Service to Marist. The Marist report code is 2400. Scores must be less than two years old from the first day of class of the proposed term of entry.
  • Official United States high school/secondary school transcripts if applicable and/or official translated high school/secondary school transcripts of all foreign academic credentials (examination results and grade reports)
  • Official results of the SAT or ACT exam if you want the Admission Committee to consider your scores (Marist is test optional).
  • A $50 non-refundable application fee
