Bachelor in Philosophy

Philosophy is the only discipline that investigates everything. It is also the only discipline that challenges everything, including itself. This is what distinguishes philosophy from the sciences, history, literature, and the arts. Although philosophy and these other disciplines share some of the same goals—like scientists, philosophers want to uncover the nature of reality; like historians, philosophers want to understand where we come from; and like artists, philosophers want to stimulate novel questions about human experience—philosophy alone aims to see how these disciplines are connected and to understand what makes them possible. This makes the study of philosophy uniquely valuable: while the major is an especially good fit for students interested in careers in law, consulting, education, or community organizing, it also helps you develop and apply skills in critical thinking, persuasive writing, ethical reasoning, and complex problem-solving that prepare you to excel in any field

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

You will be considered for admission to CSUN as an international freshman if you meet the following requirements:

You have earned a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale or an average of "B" grades on an "A - F" letter grading scale. (CSUN will convert your international GPA when you apply for admission.)
Cambridge C1 Advanced English (formerly CAE) = 172

DET – Duolingo English Test = 95

IELTS Academic - International English Language Test System = 6.0

iTEP Academic - International Test of English Proficiency = 3.8

PTE Academic - Pearson Test of English = 50

TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language = Internet Based score: 61, Paper-based score: 500
