Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.E.) - Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering covers the broad areas of municipal, geotechnical, hydrotechnical, structural, materials, and transportation engineering. The program is designed in such a way that students are exposed to basic civil engineering science during the second and third years of the program. During this time, the students are required to take courses that introduce the fundamental concepts in all of the program areas. In the final year, students have the opportunity to select electives that allow some degree of specialization. However, students are strongly encouraged to select electives that will provide them with a broad-based technical background. Project/design courses are provided in two of the three upper years. These courses are designed to give students experience in solving open-ended problems and in working in partnership with industry.
All undergraduate students admitted to the College of Engineering are required to complete a common first-year of undeclared studies (known as the first-year common core). Once the first-year common core program has been completed, undergraduate students declare their preferences and compete for admission into an upper-year program. Students who are successful in securing admission into an upper-year program are required to follow the program of study that is prescribed at the time of their admission into the upper-year program.
Recognizing that course and program changes may result in a modification to the original program of study, it is recommended that undergraduate students consult an Academic Advisor within the Engineering Student Centre on a regular basis to confirm their program of study, choose courses (including electives), and monitor their academic progress.
The Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree is a four year program offered by the College of Engineering.

Eligibility for Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP):
Graduated from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada.
Desire to stay in Canada temporarily for work.
Important Note:
Graduating from a DLI doesn't automatically qualify you for a PGWP.
Validity of PGWP:
Depends on the length of the study program or the expiry date of your passport, whichever comes first.
Duration of PGWP Based on Study Program Length:
Less than 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials): Not eligible for PGWP.
At least 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials), but less than 2 years: PGWP may be granted for the same length as the study program (e.g., a 9-month program results in a 9-month PGWP).
2 years or more: PGWP may be valid for 3 years.
Completion of Multiple Programs:
PGWP may combine the lengths of each program if:
Each program is PGWP eligible.
Each program is at least 8 months (or 900 hours for Quebec credentials) in length.
Important Restriction:
You cannot obtain a PGWP if you already had one after completing an earlier program of study.
