Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSocSc) in Geography

We offer papers in environmental planning, and geographic information systems as well as in social and cultural geography. A number of the papers have a particular emphasis on M?ori and feminist perspectives, and the social, economic and political processes that produce them. We'll get you to understand and consider solutions for the world's rapid changes caused by development, tourism, globalization, environmental degradation, population growth, and consumption.

Geography at Waikato goes beyond the classroom and opens you up to numerous career opportunities. Upon graduation, our students pursue careers in urban and regional planning, regional economic development, travel and tourism development, environmental consultancy, as well as the property and housing industry and local government.

Campus Information

Hamilton campus

Our main campus is located in the vibrant, multicultural city of Hamilton, with outdoor activities, shopping malls and eateries only a short drive away. On campus, you鈥檒l find a new state-of-the-art Student Centre, sporting facilities, cafes and eateries, car parking, subsidised bus services and more.

Tauranga campus

Our Tauranga campus is located in the heart of Tauranga鈥檚 CBD, surrounded by eateries, shopping and accommodation options. The campus itself is a brand-new multi-level building, featuring all the same student services as the Hamilton campus, with the advantage of being in the middle of the city.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Achieve an average of 75% over the best four academic subjects in the Indian School Certificate (ISC), or the All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSC), and selected state boards: Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal with a minimum of 60% in English, or:An average of 80% over the best four academic subjects in all other state boards with Minimum of 65% in English.
