Employability
As an engineer, you can be a problem-solver, a technical specialist, a manager... the types of projects you’ll work on are interesting and varied and there’ll always be something new to motivate and inspire you.

With such a varied list of career prospects, you can be sure that life as a mechanical engineer will never be dull. The kinds of projects involved will depend on the sector you choose to work in. You could find yourself designing a mechanical heart to prolong human life or be asked to improve the production process on an oil refinery. It really is that diverse.

This course is the first step to becoming a Chartered Engineer.

At LSBU, we want to set you up for a successful career. During your studies – and for two years after you graduate – you’ll have access to our Employability Service, which includes:

• An online board where you can see a wide range of placements: part-time, full-time or voluntary. You can also drop in to see our Job Shop advisers, who are always available to help you take the next step in your search.
• Our Careers Gym offering group workshops on CVs, interview techniques and finding work experience, as well as regular presentations from employers across a range of sectors.

Our Student Enterprise team can also help you start your own business and develop valuable entrepreneurial skills.

• 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
• 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

• A Level BBB or;
• BTEC National Diploma DDM or;
• Access to HE qualifications with 24 Distinctions and 21 Merits including 3 Distinctions in Maths and 9 Merits in Physics or;
• Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 122 UCAS points
• Level 3 qualifications must include Maths or Physical Science
• Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).

We welcome qualifications from around the world. English language qualifications for international students: IELTS score of 6.0 or Cambridge Proficiency or Advanced Grade C

INDIA

• Indian Standard XII: a minimum average of 55-65% or higher (depending on exam board and LSBU course applied for)
• 3 passes at GCE A-Level (required grades dependant on LSBU course applied for)
• International Baccalaureate Diploma: 24 points or higher
• Accredited UK Foundation programme: minimum 55-60% or higher
• Accredited Polytechnic/College Diploma (2 - 3 years duration) 58% or higher

NEPAL

• Nepal Higher Secondary Education Certificate: 60% or higher
• 3 passes at GCE A Level: minimum grades depend on LSBU course applied for
• International Baccalaureate Diploma: 24 points or higher
• Accredited UK Foundation programme: 55-60% or higher
• Accredited UK National Diploma: Upper or Lower Credit
• Diploma from Tribhuvan University of 3 years duration: 50% or higher

Possible advanced entry or top-up

• Accredited UK Higher National Diploma (Possible second year or top-up entry): Upper or Lower Credit

BANGLADESH

• Bangladesh Higher Secondary Certificate: 80%/CGPA 4.5/5.0 or higher
• 3 passes at GCE A-Level (required grades dependant on LSBU course applied for)
• International Baccalaureate Diploma: 24 points or higher
• Accredited UK Foundation programme: minimum 55-60% or higher
• Accredited UK National Diploma (Upper or Lower Credit)

Possible advanced entry or top-up

• Accredited UK Higher National Diploma (Possible second year or top-up entry): Upper or Lower Credit
