PgDip Children's Nusing - Second registration programme

These programmes lead to a second registration in children’s nursing.

If you are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as either an Adult, Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse you can gain a second registration as a Children's Nurse by completing either the Postgraduate Diploma or the BSc (Hons) Children's Nursing.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • A second class honours degree in nursing (minimum)
  • Registration as a nurse with the NMC
  • Secondment from the Employing Trust/Institution – students will remain in employment
  • Significant experience (at least six months) of working within children's nursing as a registered nurse
  • A successful Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) claim for Advanced Standing.
  • Advanced Standing is required to both demonstrate the ability to undertake studies at a higher academic level and show that the 2300 hours duration of practice required by the NMC can be achieved.

The one year PgDip programme includes 675 practice hours. If your APL credit is less than 1,625 hours you will therefore need an extension to the length of the programme. n.b. can include previous pre-registration placement experience.

INDIA

  • Honours Degree from a prestigious Indian university: 53-55% or higher
  • Honours Degree from a recognised Indian university: 55% or higher
  • Honours Degree from a recognised international university: equivalent to UK Bachelor Degree Second Class Honours or higher

  • 3-4 years Honours Degree from a recognised university in Nepal: 60% or higher depending on university and course applied for

  • 4-5 year Honours Degree from a recognised university in Bangladesh: CGPA 2.4 - 2.8 out of 4.0 or higher (depending on the institution and LSBU course applied for)
  • 2 year Honours Degree + 2 year Masters Degree from a recognised university in Bangladesh: CGPA 2.4 – 2.8 out of 4.0 or higher (depending on the institution and LSBU course applied for)
  • Honours Degree from a recognised international university: equivalent to UK Bachelor Degree Second Class Honours or higher
