DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (TEXTILE SCIENCE) (RESEARCH)
Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be in possession of the following minimum qualifications in order to qualify for admission:
An MSc degree in Chemistry, Physics or Textile Engineering obtained at a local university or a recognised overseas university with at least two years' experience in the textile research field; or An MSc (Textiles) degree obtained at a local or recognised overseas university; or They must have passed the examinations on the grounds of which they will be awarded a Master’s degree by the University or on the grounds of which the required status may later be granted to them by Senate. Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
The medium of instruction and examination at the NMMU is English.
Applicants from non-English speaking countries are required to submit proof of English proficiency before registration. The TOEFL or IELTS tests, available in most countries, are acceptable proof.
IELTS – 6.5 overall score with a minimum of 6 in each section.
TOEFL: PBT – 580 overall with minimums of 53 in listening, 52 in reading and 59 in structure/written
CBT – 237 overall with minimums of 19 in listening, 19 in reading and 25 in structure/written
IBT – 90 overall with minimums of 18 in listening, 17 in reading 22 in writing and 19 in speaking
