BA (Hons) History and Journalism

Our BA History and Journalism gives you the opportunity to study two subjects that will help you to hone your investigative and analytical skills while developing your writing style.
Through our diverse and inclusive History curriculum, you will learn about an array of cultures and identities. What links our work is our focus on people’s history and everyday lives. This is represented strongly in our first-year program, which will give you an insight into the making of the modern world through exploration of faith, magic and medicine, campaigns for freedom and equality, Africa and the world, and America from Hamilton to Trump.
Throughout your degree, the common link between the two disciplines will be the development of research skills. As historians, you will learn to analyze historical documents and debates among historians, while in Journalism you’ll explore print, digital, photographic, and broadcast journalism.

PSW Opportunity
- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
- 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

A Level
- BCC - Requires Maths A level. Other A Levels may come from a selection of either Engineering or Technology, Science, Design, Computing, or Business related subjects. General studies/critical thinking not accepted.
BTEC
- DMM - Requires Extended Diploma in Engineering (DMM) to include Distinction in Further Maths
GCSE: Grade 4/C in English, Mathematics, and Science.
Foundation
- Completion of the Standard XII Certificate with 50% or above
- IELTS 4.5 with no less than 4.0 in any band
Undergraduate (year 1)
- Completion of the Standard XII Certificate with 60-70% depending on points tariff required by the UH course. Some courses may require specific subjects
- IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band for standard courses – some courses require higher
- Standard XII English with 65% will also be accepted
Undergraduate (year 2/3)
- Depending on qualifications and course - usually require 2/3 year Diploma post-Standard XII to be considered
