Pharmaceutical Chemistry BSc(Hons)
Studying for your Pharmaceutical Chemistry BSc(Hons) degree with us gives you the chance to explore all the fundamentals of organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry and pharmacology while developing a specialism in pharmaceutics. Throughout the course you’ll be building up your knowledge and getting to practise the skills that are sought after by a wide range of industries.
You’ll get to grips with the subject areas through lectures, tutorials, focused seminars and hands-on practicals in modern science labs. Guided by teaching staff who are all educated to doctoral level in their respective areas of expertise.
You’ll be able to develop your logical reasoning skills and establish an imaginative approach to solving problems.
We’ll also support you in getting real-world experience with the option to complete a placement in Year 3. All of these aspects of the course are designed to help build your confidence in applying your knowledge and help you enter the world of work when you graduate.
In your final year, you’ll delve deeper into the complexities of drug action and drug design. You’ll also complete a research project, giving you the chance to make an impact in your area of particular interest or perhaps focus on topics you might wish to pursue in your future career in industry or academia. The university's main campus, Queensgate, is south-east of Huddersfield town centre. Virtually all of the university's teaching takes place on the site. The campus is split in two by the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. It features a mixture of converted mill buildings, and purpose-built facilities

PSW Opportunity
- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
- 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
BBC at A Level including a minimum grade C in Chemistry. The endorsement for practical work is an essential part of Science A Level study, and is a requirement for entry to our degree course.
112 UCAS tariff points from a combination of Level 3 qualifications including a minimum grade C in Chemistry at A Level.
DMM in BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science. Alternatively a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care/Medicinal Science is acceptable but must be accompanied by an A Level in Chemistry at a minimum grade C.
Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 level 3 credits at Merit with at least 21 credits in Chemistry.
112 UCAS tariff points from International Baccalaureate qualifications, including Higher Level Chemistry at grade 5.
If you do not have the appropriate qualifications for direct entry to this degree you may be able to apply to our Science Extended Degree (BCF0).
If your first language is not English, you will need to meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification. The minimum for IELTS is 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5, or equivalent will be considered acceptable.
