Due to the broad nature of the topic, anthropologists are highly valued by employers in many industries for their cross-cultural communication skills and their ability to analyse human behaviour. As Margaret Mead, the great American anthropologist, once said: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

Anthropology graduates work in a wide range of careers such as international development, government, NGOs, business (especially cross-cultural communication), museums, or health and tourism.

 The University of Winchester ranks in the top 10 in the UK for graduates in employment or further study according to the Graduate Outcomes Survey 2023, HESA.

Pre-approved for a Masters

If you study a Bachelor Honours degree with us, you will be pre-approved to start a Masters degree at Winchester. To be eligible, you will need to apply by the end of March in the final year of your degree and meet the entry requirements of your chosen Masters degree.

• 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
• 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Foundation

• Students who have completed 12th grade with scores between 50% and 70% will be considered

Undergraduate

• Successful completion of a suitable one year UK Foundation course (normally minimum 60%)
• International Baccalaureate(minimum of 24 points)
• Successful completion of year 10 Maths and English with a minimum of 75% plus completion of:
• Indian School Certificate (Year-12)
• Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) / Standard 12 - See required scores below
• Diploma (from a State Board of Technical Education)
• Applicants who have completed the first year of an undergraduate degree at a recognised Indian university may be considered for direct entry to undergraduate programmes.

Year 12 (HSC) grade requirements:

• The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) 70% or above
• Calcutta Board and Tamil Nadu 70% or above
• West Bengal 60% or above
• Maharashtra 75% or above

For undergraduate study (including courses with an integrated foundation year)

• Standard IELTS with an overall score of 5.5 at a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
• Non-standard (for example; Physiotherapy, Social Work, Journalism, Nursing) IELTS 7.0 or equivalent.
