This Doctoral program is designed for law graduates with relevant experience. It involves completion of a combination of coursework units and a 50,000 to 60,000 word thesis. Prior to being admitted to candidature an applicant may be required by the Governing Board to undertake any of the following: (a) complete such courses, lectures, seminars and other work as may be directed; (b) complete such research preparation as directed and provide particulars of the progress and results of the research as requested; or (3) pass an examination approved by the Board. - Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—
(a) the Bachelor of Laws with first or upper second class honours; or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA;
or
(b)(i) a Juris Doctor or Master of Laws, including a 12 point research project, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA; and
(ii) the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 70 per cent;
or
(c)(i) a bachelor's degree in law, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA; and
(ii) evidence of adequate research preparation as recognised by UWA; and
(iii) at least two years of relevant professional experience.
