Education and Sociology BA (Hons)
This course will stimulate and challenge you with a combination of sociological and educational themes that explore the impact of social class, race, gender and disability on people’s lives, and opportunities.
The course combines expertise from subject specialists and practitioners to examine issues around society and welfare, criminal justice, education, poverty, disadvantage and social change.
Throughout the course, we encourage you to explore individual interests for research. This doesn’t just develop your understanding, insights and burgeoning expertise, it also benefits you as a person, your strengths, your career and, ultimately, wider society.
The course is designed and taught by experienced sociologists and educationalists each bringing their areas of expertise in ways that highlights the interconnectedness of the themes and the subjects themselves.

The Bedford campus has lots of green open spaces while being very close to Bedford town centre and local amenities. It boasts our Gateway building, a three-storey building that offers high-quality teaching spaces, informal learning spaces, lecture theatres and a new student services centre.

PSW Opportunity
- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
- 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
The normal entry requirements for postgraduate degrees are a good honours degree in an appropriate subject from a recognised university.
We may also consider candidates with other relevant qualifications and individuals with substantial related work experience.
Applicants who not have English as a first language will be required to demonstrate they have the correct level of English for their course.
