Depending on their focus, business lawyers might provide advice to startups; negotiate and create a broad spectrum of contracts; help their clients form joint ventures; or engage in asset securitization, project finance deals, the leasing of operating space, obtaining licenses, transferring property, or negotiating contracts involving intellectual property rights or noncompetition agreements.

Business lawyers may also counsel clients on complying with federal legislation, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, False Claims Act, or Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. They might represent clients before federal and state agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, or the Financial Industry National Regulatory Authority.

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Illinois Tech requires a four-year bachelor's degree conferred with a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.0/4.0 (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution for regular admission. Individual departments may have different requirements, however.

Provide Illinois Tech an official copy of the English proficiency Duolingo English Test, TOEFL or IELTS score report. The TOEFL code to send your scores to Illinois Tech is 1318. Duolingo English Test can be submitted directly by indicating Illinois Institute of Technology.
