Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences
First university of applied sciences in Finland
The Finnish system of universities of applied sciences was created in the 1990s. The first licence was granted to Haaga Instituutti University of Applied Sciences founded in 1991. The following year, Helia University of Business and Applied Sciences was also granted a licence to operate. During the depression of the 1990s, people wanted to believe in a better future and the opportunities high-quality education could provide.
In 1993, Haaga Instituutti launched the first English-taught UAS degree programme in Finland (Degree Programme in Hospitality Management).
Haaga-Helia is a strongly business orientated university of applied sciences in Finland. Through education, research and development, we prepare professionals for business and services. We focus on co-operation, entrepreneurship, innovation and internationality.

Campus Information
Pasila
Our Pasila campus is located in Eastern Pasila, in Helsinki, right next to Pasila railway station, Mall of Tripla and Messukeskus, Finland's biggest congress and exhibition centre.
Porvoo
The Porvoo Campus represents a new style in campus construction with its use of space to create an open environment for learning and sharing knowledge. Built in 2011 the modern campus is located in the idyllic city of Porvoo.
Haaga
Haaga-Helia's Haaga campus – the Hospitality Campus – is located in the green and pleasant Haaga district, in Helsinki. The Haaga campus has approximately 1,100 students and 70 staff members.
Malmi
The Malmi campus offers Business Administration studies in Finnish. A significant proportion of Malmi's students are adult learners who complete evening and blended studies in the Business Administration programme.
Vierumaki
Vierumaki campus is located at Vierumaki Resort, about an hour’s drive from Helsinki. The Vierumäki Resort is Finland’s most diverse center for recreational activities, providing opportunities for countless sports and forms of exercise.
