English Language with Creative Writing BA(Hons)

Why English Language with Creative Writing?
State-of-the-art facilities including a forensic linguistics lab, a research and resource centre and conference labs.
Opportunity to take a five-week placement as part of the ‘Language in the Workplace’ module – a chance to see how the language skills you’ve learnt on the course can be applied to communication in a working environment.
Get involved in the writing, editing and production of the popular department linguistics magazine, Babel.
Opportunities to establish yourself as a professional writer through our Grist Creative Writing Project.
Our team of academic staff are ranked in the top 5 in the UK for the quality of their research publications (REF 2014).
95% of graduates from this subject are in work and/or further study fifteen months after graduating (HESA Graduate Outcomes 17/18, UK domiciled graduates).
Every year students also have the chance to get involved in events at the Huddersfield Literature Festival.
We’ll get you out of the classroom on some interesting fieldtrips.
On the course you’ll be taught by tutors who are actively involved in writing and getting their work published. They’re passionate about their subject, and will focus on giving you the opportunity to explore your own talents. You’ll be encouraged to develop your writing across a whole range of creative media, including theatre, film, television and radio as well as fiction and poetry.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

ABB at A Level

128 UCAS tariff points from a combination of Level 3 qualifications

DDM in BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma

Pass Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits at Merit or above
128 UCAS tariff points from International Baccalaureate qualifications
We welcome students of all ages. Applicants returning to education will be required to show equivalent attainment.

?Applications from international students will be considered on an individual basis, and with advice from the University's International Office.

If your first language is not English, you will need to meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification. The minimum for IELTS is 6.5 overall with no element lower than 6.0, or equivalent will be considered acceptable.
